The number of cellular subscribers has grown by less than 2% over the year, but the number of subscribers with access to the world wide network has grown by almost 6%

The most interesting segment of services provided by cellular operators is the mobile Internet. The density of cellular subscribers with access to the worldwide network has already reached 76 per 100 people.

The volume of mobile services decreased year-on-year by 0.3% and amounted to only 162.8 billion tenge in the first three quarters of the current year. The indicator goes to minus the sixth year in a row.

The share of mobile operators in the total volume of communication services in January – September of the current year was only 30.1% against 31.5% in the same period a year earlier, 47.9% five years ago and 52.7% – ten years earlier.

For comparison, the share of Internet providers in the total volume of communication services increased in the current year to 33.4% against 32.7% in the corresponding period last year, 21.1% five years ago and only 8.2% – a decade earlier.

At the same time, the number of cellular subscribers grew slightly over the year – by 1.6%, to 26.5 million.

It is noteworthy that the number of subscribers with access to the Internet is growing much faster – immediately plus 5.8% year-on-year, to 13.9 million in September. This is more than half of all cellular subscribers (52.2%).

A group of experts of the Association of Kazakhstani Internet business and mobile commerce (ACIB) and Intervale Kazakhstan compiled a rating of mobile applications in Kazakhstan, determining the main market trends. The rating is compiled for the fifth consecutive year and includes the top 30 applications selected from the analysis of more than 100 applications.
