Overview of internet in rural areas. August 2018 y.
The number of fixed Internet subscribers in Kazakhstan has almost stopped growing; over the last year, the number of subscribers increased only by 0.6%, to 2.5 million people by August 2018 compared with an annual growth of 12% by August 2017 y.
At the same time, the number of fixed Internet subscribers in rural areas jumped by 9.2% over the year. As a result, the share of the village increased over the year from 19.1% to 20.7%.
The largest number of fixed Internet subscribers in Astana (666.7 thousand), followed by Almaty (394.9 thousand), closes the TOP-3 Almaty region (176.4 thousand).
The volume of Internet communication services in January – August 2018 amounted to 112.7 billion tenge, which is 6.3% more than in the same period last year.
The volume of services in rural areas increased by 5.1% over the year, to 9.4 billion tenge. In contrast to the number of subscribers, the share of the village in the total volume of services in Kazakhstan decreased from 8.4% to 8.3%.
