Trading volume on AIX
Total trading volume on AIX in August 2021 was 12 095 605.8 US dollars, 32.9% down from the previous month. At the same time, the activity on the AIX stock exchange continues to grow – over the past eight months, the trading volume has increased 3.5 times compared to the trading volume for the same period last year.
Issuers, brokers, accounts
As of the end of August 2021, 103 issues of securities from 65 different issuers were included in the official list of AIX, including 2 ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) and 12 ETNs (Exchange Traded Notes). 18 Kazakhstani and 11 international brokers are trading members of AIX. More than 141 thousand investor accounts have been opened at the Central Securities Depository of AIX.
In July, Megastroy LLP, a subsidiary of BI Group, successfully placed bonds on AIX in the amount of KZT 6.3 billion, which is the first tranche under the Debt Instruments Program for a total of KZT 20 billion. Another representative of the construction sector, Project ENS LLP, also issued debt instruments – USD bonds in the amount of 3.7 million US dollars and KZT bonds in the amount of KZT 350 million.
At the end of August, the total market capitalization of companies listed on AIX (Kazatomprom, Polymetal, Halyk Bank, Ferro-Alloy Resources Limited, Bank CenterCredit, Kaspi.kz, Kcell) exceeded 44 billion US dollars.
AIXQI Index
The AIX Qazaq Index, which was launched on July 1 of 2021, measures the performance of shares of companies whose business is related to Kazakhstan. It is a weighted index by market capitalization. The index includes shares and global depositary receipts of eight Kazakhstani companies traded on AIX, KASE and LSE.
Starting at 1000 points, AIXQI ended its debut month at 993.93 points, showing a slight decrease by 0.61% in July. In August, the AIXQI index recovered the ground lost in July, ending the month at 1,034.42 points, an increase of 4.07%. 6 out of 8 index companies ended August on a bullish run. Banking sector companies shares’ showed the best dynamics against the backdrop of strong numbers reported for the first half of this year. Bank CenterCredit and Halyk Bank grew by 14.74% and 13.25%, respectively. Also, Kazakhtelecom’s shares demonstrated significant growth – by 12.75%. Kazatomprom shares gained 7.99% as the national uranium mining company published relatively strong financial results for the first 6 months of 2021, and also announced the payment of more than 150 billion tenge of dividends to shareholders for 2020. The price of shares of Central Asia Metal (+ 0.91%) and Kaspi (+0.68) changed slightly. Two companies – KazTransOil and Polymetal ended the month in negative zone with a decrease of 5.73% and 7.89%, respectively.
